There are eight consonants in täîksiri: /p/, /t/, /k/, /s/, /m/, /n/, /r/, and /l/.
/p/ becomes [b] when it appears before m, n, r, or l. Likewise, /t/ becomes
[d], and /k/ becomes [g]. /s/, when it appears before /m/, /n/, /r/, or /l/
becomes /m/, /n/, /r/, or /l/. For example /sl/ becomes [ll], /sn/ becomes [nn], etc.
Between two vowels, /p/ becomes [v], /t/ becomes [ð], /g/ becomes [h],
and /s/ becomes [z]. These changes are not reflected in the täîksiri
script (except for the /sl/ to [ll] type change), but are reflected in the romanization used in these pages.
In TÄÎKSIRI, /p/, /t/, /k/, and /s/ can be pronounced long, and
are written double, both in TÄÎKSIRI script and Roman orthography.
These do not undergo the changes discussed above.
